A Stamping get together

Yesterday our team of Stampin' Up demonstrators got together to make a few Christmas cards. Its always a great day, but I must admit I really enjoyed the day. I always bring my kids along and they play with the other kids, and they had such a great day, it makes me feel that much better about spending a day doing something I love without feeling guilty that I am neglecting them. Anyway, I'll get on to the cards...



The first card was designed by Belinda. I love the colour combo she used, Pink pirouette, riding red, kraft and white. It uses the stamp set Christmas Classics. I have looked longingly at this set for ages, so it was lovely to get my hands on it. Belinda does some beautiful work, and if you are coming along to our 'Girls Night In' on the 24th be sure to check it out. Especially her Noah's Arc card - trully a work of art!



This card was designed by Rachel and again uses a stamp set I love, Holiday Lineup. I also love the colour combo she used, not traditional xmas colours at all, but I thnk they look great. I also got to use the riding hood red striped ribbon from the mini...gorgeous. I can't wait to see Rachels work at the night in, she does lots of watercolouring and has a lovely eye for design.




This is Jo's card. It uses a non xmas set, Cirle Circus to create a great card. You have to love it when a stamp set does double duty. I love purples, - so pretty.




This card was designed by Michelle (not me, another one). She used Holly Jolly Christmas, for a traditonal themed card. That stocking is so cute.

This card was designed by the talented Maureen. She used ridng hood red, vanilla and gold. These are just the most beautiful rich colours together. Her card was definitely the hardest with the most steps, but well worth it. The stamp set we used here was Snow Swirled.

And last but not least was a card designed by Sharon using Snow Swirled once again. A simple but very elegant card you could make lots of easily in an afternoon.

There were a few more cards made on the day, but I'll save those for another post, as you are probably asleep by now.

Quick xmas cards class - Sat 3rd Oct and Wednesday 7th Oct

This weeks class is all about Christmas cards. I have tried to make them a little simpler than usual, but will have lots of ideas on how you could detail them further if you wish. We will be making 4 cards and one gift card/money holder.



The first card uses the beautiful wheel so swirly and my current fave colour combo, taken with teal, silver and white.



And then another card using the stamp set snow swirled with lots of glitter and sparkle.




Then we have a little gift card holder great for those people you have no what gift to buy - teenagers perhaps!



This is a simple card with a little trick for using less ribbon as well as some sponging.



And lastly a simple card with a bit of an old feel to it.

The class is offered on Saturday 3rd October at 10.30am or in the school holidays on Wednesday 7th at 10am. Class cost is $20 and includes all materials, tools and light refreshments. Please email me if you would like to attend. All welcome.

It's orange!!!

I'm not a big fan of the colour orange, but I had a few sheets of the new tangerine tango so I thought I had better use it. I combined it with the stamp set Upsy Daisy and some riding hood red ribbon to make this card in about 15 mins. I usually spend soooo much longer on my cards. I think I may just like tangerine tango after all.

faux wood class on Saturday 19th at 10.30am and Wednesday 23rd at 10am

After last weeks mega class, where I was beginning to think I might have to make you all dinner, I have prepared a super easy class using the faux wood technique. This really is so easy and quick to make, although a little messy, but you can't have everything!

The first card is a wintery xmas shaker box card. Not really Australian, but I think I have watchd too much TV over the years, so I love this scene regardless.


The second card is a sympathy card to have on hand, although you are welcome to change the sentiment if you wish. It incorporates a little chalking but really is so quick and easy to make. It also uses some free, so saffron ribbon from this months special.



Then we have the good old wood fence depicted in this one. I saw this card on someones blog (no idea who) about a year ago and just loved the idea of it, so have been waiting to recreate it.

And lastly a very male card that won't take long at all to whip up. You could also make this into a husband, uncle, nephew or son card.

Girls Night In Fundraising Event

I now have the details for the next Fundraiser.

Date: 24th October
Sessions: 2-5pm or 7-10pm
Cost : $20 (includes all materials and snacks, and a donation to the Cancer Council)
Venue: Hambledon Primary School, Bali Drive, Quakers Hill
Theme: Pink - wear something pink if you can.

We will have lots of Lucky Door Prizes, Raffles (with great prizes kindly donated by Stampin' Up!), Specials and you will get to make 8 projects.

Last time we did this places filled very fast, so contact me asap if you are interested in attending. You'll have a great time as well as helping out a great cause. Please indicate which session you would like to attend when booking.

Celebrating 50

It was my aunts 50th birthday last week, so this is the card I made for her.
It uses a new stamp set from the mini called Gallery. I am just lovin' this set, I can see a lot of uses for it. I have also used Baroque Motifs (yes again!) and baha breeze felt flowers and cardstock. The ink was creamy caramel and choc chip. The ribbon and chipboard numbers are non SU.

Rub on class - Sat 5th Sep and Wed 9th Sept

After all those male cards last week, I have completely gone to the other extreme and created lots of girly projects for this class. All the projects use the Summer Love Rub-Ons, and I will give everyone a full sheet to use on the day. You are most welcome to take the left overs and continue creating at home.


This card also uses some chalk and a little stamping.


This is all rub ons and very quick to make.


This card uses some acetate for a card thats a little different from the usual.

This box is really easy to construct, and would make an easy project to make lots of for gifts.

And to finish with a smaller sized gift card.

The cost for this class is $20 and covers all materials and tools. The rub-ons are $11 for a sheet, so its a great value class, however you will have to book early for this one, as I will have to pre-order the rub-ons. Please email me if you would like to attend either of the classes. All Welcome.

Father's Day Card

Have you made your Father's Day card yet? This is the one I ended up giving my dad. I had to give it to him today as I won't get a chance to see him next week.
To make this card I embossed Sanded background stamp in clear on black card. I then sponged on some copper ink (retired) around the edges. When dry I tied brocade blue ribbon around the piece and mounted on a brocade blue card base. The sentiment from Occasional Greetings I stamped after colouring with markers (Brocade Blue and Choc Chip) and then mounted on whisper white, copper (Oh, how I love this card!) and brocade blue. It was pretty easy and quick to make, and luckily dad seemed to like it.

Glittered initial

It's major birthday month in our family in the next few weeks, which will keep me very busy. I find once you make a card for someone, thats it for life....you are never allowed to purchase a card again, without a great deal of disappointment from the recipient. So, here's the card I made for my sister Mel. I used the Letters Sticky Cuts and pink glitter to create a focal point inital, with baroque motifs stamped several times in the background. The card stock is taken with teal and pink passion.

A Candy Lane Wedding

I usually spend hours labouring over wedding cards, after all they are for a very special day. But this card did not take long at all. It actually uses a sheet from the Stampin' Up! Candy Lane pack. The birds are printed on one corner of the sheet - so you could only make 2 of these cards with a pack. I just added a little colour to the birds with an ink pad and aqua painter, and then added a veil I created with a scrap of lace I gathered up and adhered with a glue dot. The only stamping is the Mr and Mrs which comes from the Occasional Greetings set.

Male card class on Sat 22nd and Wed 26th August

The classes this week are all about cards for the other sex. Personally I really enjoy creating male cards, they make me think more about the design aspect and not just using the old flower stand by to make it pretty.
Now, in this class you will be making four cards, you are welcome to choose which cards you would like to make from the options given.
You could make the card above which uses a faux leather technique for its background. This card is general enough to use as Father's Day card for a husband or son, not just a Dad. It's a little bit messy to make, but lots of fun!


I have included these cards due to many requests. They are simple relying on the strong graphic of the stamp which we will clear emboss for texture.



I had to include a little watercolouring, and these are easy and quick to re create, suitable for a male of almost any age.



And then we have another faux leather technique and lots of faux stitching...

And lastly another simple stamped project with lots of stamp layering.

The class cost is $20 and includes all materials and tools. All welcome, but you must email me to reserve your spot. Remember you will be making four cards from the options above so have a think about which cards you would like to make before the class. (Sorry Margaret, I know thats stressful.)

Single stamps

Do you know that Stampin' Up now offer some single stamps in the new mini? The one I have used here is called Fun Flowers. It can easily be the focus of an entire card, when used with some Parisian Breeze designer paper, a gemstone brad and taffeta ribbon.


And here I have used the same stamp in a repetitive fashion with colours from the bold brights family. I don't use these colours nearly enough, and they really are lovely.
